SWFL-AROC “Spritely” 2019 Winter Tour

Ozello Trail by Harmon Heed

    Dear Alfistis and Fiatsis:

    "Day Out" April 30th

    Dear Alfa enthusiast,

Looks like I will also be acting as registrar for the aforementioned rally, that Margo told you about.

For those that don’ know me, I am the publisher of Classic Motorsports and Grassroots Motorsports magazines and volunteered, because I joined the club with my ’71 Spider and as a side job, we put on classic sports car tours professionally. Since I know where the private collections are and the good places to eat, and virtually every good road in central Florida, I figured I would volunteer my services.

There will be no charge, but any breakfast and lunch tabs are to be paid for by participants. I would figure around $20 per person for lunch, depending on what you order. Any car is eligible, but we would like to see your Alfa.

Here are some more details and the correct maps (the ones in the earlier e-mail were not meant to be sent out and were just some earlier doodling that I had shared with the club). We will provide professional instruction to those who enter.

Registration is easy. Please send me the names of your driver and co-driver and what vehicle you are taking.

I need to get a head count for lunch by MONDAY APRIL 25th, to let the lunch spot know what to expect. This gives you time to check your plans and the long term forecast.

We will leave at 9:00 in the parking lot of the Gourmet Kitchen. (1930 West Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL 32174) Driver’s meeting is at 8:50 am.

Anyone wanting breakfast should show up earlier. Other breakfast options within half mile of our meeting point, on the same street include: Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds and Cracker Barrel.

From there we will head northeast up to “The Loop” and into Flagler Beach. From there we will head West through the beautiful farms of Flagler county to a private micro car and scooter collection in DeLeon Springs. This leg will be two hours and have us there at 11:00 am.

We will leave at noon and drive for 30 minutes through shady and quaint Glenwood and then by Stetson University to have lunch at the 100 year old DeLand Hotel. We have both inside and outside seating available. The food rivals the atmosphere at this quaint and romantic destination. Lunch will be at 12:30 p.m. We will finish lunch at 1:30-2:00pm

Those that want to head back to the Orlando area can head home form here, or our final leg takes us on some surprisingly curvy roads up the east side of DeLand to end up less than an hour later at the Gourmet Kitchen, where we started.
